Alentejo Off-grid living
We first visited the site 4 years ago to set up a small system to run a site office. Through the twists, turns, and re-imaginings of this project, we adjusted, moved, and upgraded the energy delivery system, ensuring throughout all the challenges of the project that there was always power available.
Striking a balance between year round production efficiency and visual impact resulted in the panels being integrated into a distant south-facing slope, achieving elevated inclination angles but low panel heights. 160m of solar cable runs presented us with a great opportunity to demonstrate the high voltage properties of our DC platform off-grid solar technology.
Working closely with the project owners and prime contractors as the main construction entered its final days, we were ready to deploy as conditions aligned. Our extensive experience of complex projects meant we were able to fully deliver the completed project with only 4 site days: on time, error free, and exceeding expectations.
The system as it stands is 3 x 10kva Victron Multiplus II line inverters, 12.5kva AC coupled Fronius Symo Inverter and an RS450/200 Victron MPPT Solar charger. 23kWp of Rec Alpha Pure panels and a Storage base of 63kWh of Meterboost Lithium batteries.
Each part of this system is designed with upgrade potential in mind so the owners can be sure this is the right system for them today – and for whatever tomorrow brings.
